CAROB
The ancient fruit of the Mediterranean
Carob is the fruit of the carob tree, which grows throughout the Mediterranean basin. It is harvested at the end of summer, dried, and ground into a dark flour with a naturally sweet flavor. In many countries, it has been eaten for generations. We have made it the main ingredient in Lai products.
In short
- Flavor: sweet, with notes of cocoa, caramel, and date
- Naturally caffeine-free
- It is not chocolate: it has its own unique taste
- Grows in the hot, dry climates of the Mediterranean
Did you know?
Carob seeds all weigh almost exactly the same. For this reason, they were used in the past to weigh gold and precious stones, which is where the word "carat" comes from.
